Mixtape Maestros Sessions by Amriki
There is a ton of mixtapes out there that will never be played out loud, in various rides over the summer. Whether it’s unknown artists, mixtape kings (and queens), known signed-industry artists, female rappers/emcees, international acts, trap music, boom-bap, and remixes of known joints/bangers from back in the days.
This podcast series was created for 2 reasons:
Firstly, why not have fun doing some internet-diggin'(collecting songs from the web), finding a gem amongst the sea of music, and sharing the music with the masses.
Secondly, though I was influenced big time and favor positive HipHop from the ‘Golden Era’. The music played on the radio stations back then was more balanced:
J.J. Fad (female party rhymers) then followed by KRS-1 (hiphop personified)
3rd Bass (dope white emcees) then followed by X-Clan (Afrocentric)
2 Live Crew (stripper music) then followed by Poor Righteous Teachers (5 percenters)
Geto Boyz (Texas Gangstas) then followed by Paris (Revolutionary/Militant music)
Too Short (Bay Area mack) then followed by Chill Rob G (Jersey 1 album wonder)
So, this series will follow that format versus my personal preferences. Letting the listener make up their own mind. Instead of letting corporate radio and record labels dictating the music for the average cat.
